The house is located just yards from the town's main plaza, yet is positioned behind private gates on a car-free street, so feels secluded. It is set over three storeys. Entering the front door there is an open-plan kitchen diner with fully equipped newly fitted kitchen, dining table, sofa and wood burning stove. On the first floor are 2 stylish bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 singles. There are 2 new bathrooms. On the third floor there is a living-room with sofa bed, TV, wood-burning stove and a shaded balcony with lovely views. From here there is a metal spiral staircase leading to the roof terrace with 360 degree views or the town and the surrounding mountains. There is a sofa and table here so you relax and enjoy the vistas. As it is set over 3 floors it is not suitable for small children or those with mobility issues.
We have lived in the area for over 20 years and have 2 children who go to the local school. We bought Casa Libertad in 2018 and spent a year completely renovating the house, and enjoy using it when we are not in our finca 5km from town.
The house is situated in the heart of Orgiva, a bustling market town with lots of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants. So if you want to pass the days taking a coffee and people watching in the plaza, shop in any of the local artisan shops, or eat in one of the local delicious restaurants, you are only a few minutes walk away, In the summer the local open air pool is only 5 minutes walk down the hill. On Thursdays is the local market where you can buy a variety of local produce, arts and crafts.
The Alpujarras is a truly unique and beautiful corner of Andalucia - and offers opportunities for bird watching, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. The irrigation systems set up by the moors means there flora and fauna here are unlike anywhere else in Andalucia. There is information about all these activities and more in the house.
If you want to venture further afield there are good local transport links to the white villages of Pampaneira, Capilliera and Bubion. Granada is under an hour away where you can see the majestic Alhambra, or go skiing in the Sierra Nevada. In the opposite direction you can be relaxing on the beaches of the Costa Tropical in just over half an
