Relax in this spacious, 3-bedroom, air-conditioned, village house, in the centre of the small town of Castello de Rugat. Enjoy the gentle pace of life of rural Spain away from the crowds, whilst easily being able visit the tourist resorts when you want to. The town has all the essential amenities such as shops, banks, supermarkets and bars, and the closest sandy beaches of Gandia and Oliva are just a 30-minute drive away. The well-equipped house, sleeps up to 5 people, and has been lovingly furnished to be a comfortable and welcoming home from home for families and friends to socialise and unwind. All of the internal space of this home is on the ground floor. Guests favourite areas are the large, fully enclosed, private patio/courtyard with a built in charcoal BBQ, and the roof terrace. Both are perfect for outdoor dining and relaxing after a busy day exploring all this region has to offer. Inside is a modern, fully equipped kitchen, including an induction hob, full oven, slimline dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine & fridge-freezer. The bathroom has a bath & overhead shower plus there is a separate shower-room. The comfortable living/dining room has ample seating, with free, FAST, fibre optic WiFi, a flat screen Smart TV, stereo & DVD player. The thick stone walls keep the house cool but there is also air-conditioning in the main living space as well as fans in all the bedrooms. Towels & bed linen are provided, as are basic toiletries, dishwasher tablets and cleaning items. There is a washing machine and outside washing lines to dry your clothes naturally. IMPORTANT - Please note that there is no parking at the property itself. There is free parking on the surrounding streets, usually within a 3-5 minute walk. Also, a new Valencian region law means that guests staying 10 days+ must sign a short-term rental agreement.

Originally from the UK we now live just a few streets from El Buen Ocio, and will be here to welcome you and answer any questions. We love living in Castello de Rugat and this part of Spain. We feel that there is something very special about this area. Being here reminds us to relax, to appreciate the simple things in life and enjoy all that the natural world has to offer. Most previous guests agree, as many have been back more than once, and several have decided to buy their own property here. It is important to us that you enjoy your visit, so we are happy to share our knowledge of the area, having as much, or as little contact, with you as require. We are keen walkers, and love exploring this area of Spain. If requested we can suggest walks, beauty spots, historical towns, museums, beaches, places to go wild swimming, and restaurants.

Castello de Rugat is nestled between the mountains of the Sierra de Benicadell to the south and picturesque countryside to the north. It is perfect if you want to escape the busy cities or coastal resorts without completely missing out on the beaches or towns. It is rural but not isolated, and there is so much to do and explore right on our doorstep, from walking and cycling in the unspoilt, peaceful countryside, to discovering historic towns such as Xativa with its’ stunning castle, visiting the coastal resorts, or taking the train to the beautiful city of Valencia. In the warm weather you can swim in the sea and relax on the miles of stunning, soft, sandy, blue flag beaches of Oliva and Gandia, only 30 minutes away. In summer the town's lovely outdoor pool is open (mid-June - early Sept). Served by excellent main roads, Castello is perfectly positioned for trips into the Vall d’Albaida and this part of the Province of Valencia. We are surrounded by natural & protected areas, including several where you can enjoy wild swimming in the cool water. There are lots of castles, some preserved, some just ruins, palaces in Gandia and Anna, monasteries, bodegas and so much more. Eating out, especially in the villages away from the coast, is very affordable. Despite recent price increases you can still find restaurants serving the lunch time 'menu del dia' less than fifteen euros each, and, you can enjoy a social cup of coffee, glass of wine or a beer without needing to worry about the price. For keen cooks, the large weekly markets are a great place to buy tasty, locally grown fruit, vegetables, honey & olive oil. The area is blessed with lots of walking routes and cycling trails in the surrounding hills, mountains and countryside. Finally, of course, there is also the distinctive peak of the Benicadell mountain that looks over the town; if you are a keen walker why not take one of the many different routes and hike to the top of the mountain on your holiday!
