Why did we Choose to be Here?
From the moment we set foot in Finca Gran Cerros, we fell in love with the spectacular mountain views and the peace and quiet of the elevated location. We immediately knew that it was somewhere special; a place to escape to and unwind, yet close enough to be able to enjoy the very best that rural Andalusia has to offer. Within moments of arriving we knew that this special place was where we wanted to call home.
Now, we have the privilege of being able to share our home, not only with our beloved rescued greyhound, Benji (that’s him, enjoying a trip to the beach), but also with guests from all over the world who want to experience tranquil, rural Spain at its very best.
We hope that you’ll enjoy your stay at Finca Gran Cerros, and we’ll do everything we can to make your visit a memorable one. We look forward to welcoming you.
We will provide plenty of tourist information and recommendations for you in your 'Welcome Book', and if you'd like the information in advance, just ask us and we'll direct you to our website which is full of suggestions of places to visit and activities available.
Nearby Álora Village has everything you need for enjoying a stay at Finca Gran Cerros, with a Mercadona supermarket and a number of small independent shops set amongst its picturesque, winding, whitewashed streets.
Álora is Steeped in History
There’s evidence of a settlement at Álora since prehistoric times and the town is steeped in history. Álora’s castle was first built by the Phoenicians and subsequently expanded under Roman rule. In the 5th century the castle was destroyed by the Visigoths, then rebuilt under the Moors. Remnants of this castle still remain, namely the decorative door and traditional Arab mirador. Álora also boasts numerous churches from the 15th and 16th centuries.
The whitewashed streets and traditional squares are also home to plenty of tapas bars, cafes, bodegas and restaurants to refresh and recharge after a morning of exploring. If you'd like restaurant recommendations, just ask!
