Adeje is located in the Southwest of the Island, it also has 14 beaches with sand of all colours, where it is possible to swim all year round thanks to its average annual temperature of 24ºC and its almost 300 days of sunshine a year. The beauty of the seabed and the more than 500 species that live on its coastline make this municipality one of the favourite spots for visitors to go scuba diving. Adeje has an extensive network of diving centres, where it is possible to hire lessons, organise dives and buy or rent equipment. The richness of its marine fauna also stands out, as it has one of the most important cetacean colonies in the world: pilot whales, dolphins and other species of aquatic mammals are found in its waters. It is a natural spectacle that can be enjoyed on board of the boats destined for its observation. Furthermore, some of the oldest geological materials on the island are found there, combined with intense erosion activity, of which the Roque del Conde or Pico de Abinque are faithful examples. The Barranco del Infierno (Hell's Ravine), protected as a Special Natural Reserve. More than 45% of its surface area is made up of protected natural spaces.
