San Pedro del Pinatar is a Murcian town located on a small peninsula. It has more than 14 km of coastline divided between the two seas, the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea (Greater). It adjoins the municipalities of San Javier, Pilar de la Horadada and the province of Alicante. It has more than twenty thousand inhabitants that are distributed throughout the main nucleus (San Pedro del Pinatar) and its numerous districts or neighborhoods, the main ones being Lo Pagan, Los Saez and El Mojón. It was mainly a fishing town until the 17th century, when it became a vacation spot for the inhabitants of the Murcian orchard who were attracted by its good climate, its warm waters and the healing properties of the Mar Menor.
