The main attraction of Fuente de Piedra is undoubtedly the lagoon, which is only 5 minutes away by car. The village of Fuente de Piedra is a typical Andalusian village, with whitewashed houses and courtyards full of flowers and plants. It has just over 5,000 inhabitants. The historic quarter is very pleasant to stroll through and is dominated by the beautiful 18th century church of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación, as well as the Casa Fuerte de los Sotomayor, a 16th century manor house. Other places of interest are the Hermitage of Santa María de las Virtudes, the old Town Hall and the Granary, a public granary built in 1791. Be sure to try the typical local pastries in one of its bakeries.
