Most people come here to enjoy all there is to visit on the Ruta del Cister, but surprisingly enough, we have had people who come to visit La Ruta del Cister and then spend all day inside your part of the house, saying afterwards they were fine staying in the house. But there are a lot of gosh places to visit, and we're always in our part of the house so that if you need any local information on top of the info there is in the scrapbook, you only have to ask.
As the duck-pond next to our house is the crossing point of the GR171 and the GR175, the Route of the Cisters and the San Jaume Way, offshoot of the Trail to Santiago de Compostela, there are lots of interesting walks nearby, and this is a stage-post on the 5/6 day walk of the Ruta, or 3/4 days on mountain bike. We will come to Reus airport and pick you up for free (not free from Barcelona ) and start you off on the Ruta, then once you've done the round trip back to the base of Forès, we'll take you back to the airport or put you on a train to Barcelona.
Casi-Vegetariano. No fumador. Comunicativo pero me gusta el silencio para oir la naturaleza. I'm English but have lived in Catalunya for more than 30 years. As I explain on (website hidden) you can either hire a car and I'll explain where to go in thius beautiful area, or alternatively if we agree, and if I'm free, which is likely, it would be my pleasure to take you in my nice car to show you around this beautiful area rich in history and sites. Which has a small cost, each from 1pm onwards, to pay my food and fuel costs. In the mornings, there are nice walks round the village or there are 2 bicycles in the house Previous to 1pm, you won't get a peep out of me: I'll be in my part of the house doing my yoga, meditation, etc.
Forès is one of the municipalities in the Medieval and Cistercian routes. The village has 66 inhabitants.
It is located on a fortified hilltop of 864 m., which dominates the fertile valley of the Conca de Barbera and looks out over the sea, the Pyrenees mountains, and the sacred mountain of Montserrat. From a geological and landscape view, is one of the most interesting places in the county.
At the top stands out the ornate octagonal tower of the Romanesque church of Sant Miquel, which is dedicated to the archangel praised as overcoming demons.
The church is a point of the Forés Ley line which aligns Forés with all churches which are consecrated to the Archangel San Miguel, a straight line following the axis of the nave of the church. At 90º exactly from this Line, following the direction of the transept of the church, about five kilometers away is to be found on a hill 750 m high the hermitage of Sant Pere de SAVELLA (S. Pedro), part of another alignment consecrated to San Pedro, or Sant Roc churches, note that both mean "rock" (petrus).
