The house was created in the 1800's by making openings in the château walls for the doors and windows. The origins of the building are unknown, the previous owner said was the the château school rooms? There are lots of staircases and uneven floors which sadly make it unsuitable for some people but gives it character for those who like old houses. We have renovated giving most modern conveniences but tried to retain its old charm and to not make it "new bling". I lived here with my children while they were at school in the local area and we have kept it because they (we) have very happy memories living in this lovely village. I moved when they were grown up to have better studio space for my activities. I have found over the years that many families have shared our enjoyment of this house, the village and its beautiful and unspoilt environment...The Minervois! You are welcome...

I'm a retired art teacher. I've worked in the Minervois since 1998. I participate in local cultural and artistic events.

The house is in the oldest part of the village, set in the walls behind the château. The streets are very narrow and quaint, there is virtually no circulation of vehicles and the area is therefore very quiet and safe. There is a excellent bakery (organic sourdough bread) and a new restaurant (organic, locally sourced ingredients) in the next village (Azillanet) a good restaurant above Cesseras in Fauzan and another one or two in the next village the other side (Siran). All amenities available in Olonzac (4 km and market town) Swimming in the local lake (Homps) in local rivers and canyon.
