Firstly we will be going back, so it’s is difficult to not reduce our chances by saying this is an escape, a perfect blend of rustic old Tourtour and added high quality items like Smegg fridge and stove, free standing bath and then adding to that...

La Charmante is a medieval house. The year of construction is unknown, but somewhere between the 14th and 16th century. The walls are wide and slightly slanted, the doors are low and the steps uneven. The house contains many authentic Provencal details, such as the tiles from Salernes on the floor and the Provencal kitchenette with earthenware sink. It is a unique piece of history, which has proudly withstood everything for many years. It is up to us to preserve and cherish this. During the renovation, we have preserved the character of the house. We have done the furnishing with as many vintage, brocante and here and there new (handmade) products as possible. In addition, we have focused on quality products so that it can hopefully be preserved for a long time. During your stay, you have the entire house, including the patio, at your disposal. The cottage has: • Fully equipped kitchen • Living room with TV • Patio • Bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower • 2 bedrooms (queen size beds) • Freestanding bath in the upper bedroom The house is within walking distance of various restaurants, bars and shops. There is a small supermarket with bakery in the village. Suitable for 4 people and a maximum of 3 dogs. You reach the cottage via an alley in the medieval part of Tourtour. In the low season you can park your car approximately 100 meters away. In the high season the village is car-free and you can park your car approximately 250 meters away. You can park for free in Tourtour all year round. The cottage is not accessible for people with walking difficulties. There are 3 staircases in the cottage from the medieval period. Not all steps are the same height and not every step is the same size. To get to the bathroom and the upper bedroom, you have to go through the first bedroom. Each room has electric heating. WiFi is available throughout the house, unfortunately the connection is not very strong.
For many years I have been lucky enough to be able to stay in Tourtour. I first came to Tourtour in 2012 to do an internship. Since then I have lost my heart to the village. In 2023 I was lucky enough to be able to call a house our own, a dream come true! We spend as much time as possible there, but also like to share this unique place with other enthusiasts. Our own home is our first Lovenests, La Charmante. You can find it online as Lovenests – La Charmante. When I am in Tourtour myself, I enjoy cooking delicious food with fresh ingredients from the market, a delicious croissant from the Proxi or a pizza baked in a wood-fired oven. I like to spend my time at brocante or pottery markets. The house is therefore decorated with all kinds of local finds. I also like to go out by car. Wonderful touring on the winding roads, enjoying the views. Or a long exhausting walk with the dog. And then recover in a warm bath or a cooling shower, depending on the season. I love Tourtour, the atmosphere and the surroundings. I like to share that love with others, so that you can also discover this beautiful part of France.
When I hear the phrase “Living like a God in France” I think of Tourtour. Enjoying an espresso on the terrace under the shady plane trees. While the French people around you greet each other exuberantly with 2 kisses. The splashing fountain in the background and the whistling of birds high in the trees. Tourtour has a lot to offer its residents and visitors. Characteristic buildings, many fountains, winding streets and an indescribable peace and quiet. It sometimes seems as if time has stood still. Tourtour is located in Provence in France. The village is bustling in the summer. There are often events and live music. In addition, many shops and art galleries are open. In the area you can enjoy beautiful walks, cycling or touring by car/motorcycle. Bi-weekly markets are held in Tourtour. In addition, there are often antique, pottery and other markets. There are several restaurants, a bar, an ice cream parlour and a small supermarket with bakery in the village. All within walking distance of the house. The village has a medieval core and is home to many authentic and historical details. The village has no fewer than 3 castles, 7 fountains and a lavoir. The tourist office organises informative tours and provides information brochures. The immediate surroundings of Tourtour have a lot to offer. You are approximately 35 kilometres away from the Lac de Sainte Croix and 50 kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea. In addition, there are many villages and sights around Tourtour that are worth discovering, for example: - L’abbeye de Thoronet; - The cosy markets of Aups & Salernes; - The waterfalls of Sillans-la-Cascade; - The beautiful village of Cotignac; - The Gorges du Verdon, perfect for nature and water sports enthusiasts; - The lavender fields northwest of the Lac de Sainte Croix; - Many (many!) wine estates with sales & tastings; - The olive castle Chateau de Taurenne; - And much more!
