Part of a former ferryman’s house on the banks of the river Vienne, this historic property has been sympathetically modernised to provide a really comfortable home from home while retaining its quirky charm. Views over the river and the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from the house as well as the secure private garden. La Maison du Passeur is a great base for visiting the region’s attractions and enjoying outdoor pursuits all year round. The well-equipped kitchen is a great place for gathering round the large table. The comfy living room has views over the river, as does Bedroom 1 above. Bedroom 3 is accessed through Bedroom 2 and this makes an ideal family suite. For those guests who need three separate rooms for sleeping, we provide a sofa bed in the living room. The bathroom is upstairs with a bath with shower over. An additional toilet is downstairs off the hallway. Please note that this is an old, historic property with low doorways and lots of internal steps. Please mind your head and watch your step.

Availles Limouzine is a small, pretty town with a rich history on La Vienne river. It is well provided with a butcher, a bakery and a general store. There is also a weekly market every Thursday morning so delicious, fresh ingredients to cook at home are readily available. For when you don’t want to cook, La Maison du Passeur is just a few minutes walk from several good restaurants and cafés in the town. There are also excellent places to eat and drink in the surrounding towns and villages.
