A warm welcome awaits you at le petit cochon chambre d'hotes. We are only the 2nd family to live in the house since construction. The house was and still is, the hub of the village. For generations it was the wheel-wright, farrier and forge and the place where you repaired tractors and trailers for the farms. Now all has changed, we now have a large dining room, and a large kitchen where we also have a cookery school. We have tried to keep many of the original features whilst making the rooms clean and comfortable. We offer free wifi, french television, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom in each room. We have decking, with seating to the front and to the side, a relaxing sun terrace, ideal for lazing in the sun or for an aperitif before dinner.
We are an English couple dedicated in making sure your stay is the best that you have experienced. I am a qualified chef with over 30 years experience in the food business. In the U.K we had 3 restaurants and sold them so we could move to France for a better life. We have 5 children and 3 grandchildren who live in in the U.K. My wife was Maitre d in the restaurants and is excellent in making sure all of our customers are well looked after. When you stay at le petit cochon you will see numerous paintings from our holidays around the world and all have a story to tell, so at dinner, over a glass or 2 of wine we talk about our holidays. I pride myself in cooking my food using the best local produce and if there are vegetarians or any allergies, i can make sure that you are well catered for. I make my own bread for breakfast as well as 2 choices of homemade jams sometimes homemade coissants as well as locally sourced honey cereal, fruit juice, fruit from our trees(seasonal) yoghurt, tea or coffee.
We live in a quiet village and at the moment have no shops. The nearest town is 10 km away so a car is needed. We have 12 different walks around the village all clearly sign posted. Our fields are full of yellow colza from april -june and from july we have an abundance of sunflowers till mid august. Cycling is a must for all of the keen cyclists as our region is relatively flat and is very safe. We also have numerous varieties of birds. Because of the lack of light pollution our village is a must for astronomers, with numerous constellations and stars on show. We are only 20 km from the Brenne National park an 10 kms from Montmorillon- le cite de l'ecrit Also we have many chateaus, castles and ancient churches to visit. We are also halfway in distance from north to south and east to west, so is an ideal rest point on route to your destination.
