Sablet is a picturesque Provençal village, set against the dramatic backdrop of the craggy, Dentelles de Montmirail, nestling in the foothills of Mt Ventoux and surrounded by terraced vineyards. It has quite rightly been described as a vibrant, welcoming, authentic village. Sablet has a small market every Friday morning on the main square with fresh produce: fruit, vegetables, fish, cheese and pasta. Vaison-la-Romaine, the nearest town is 10 minutes by car with Roman ruins to explore, restaurants for everyone, café terraces and a vibrant boutique culture. It also boasts one of the biggest Provencal weekly markets in the region. The area is renowned for hiking, cycling, fishing, tennis (there is even a small club in the village) and going further, for rock climbing and kayaking. The towns and coastline of the Med, the flora and fauna of the Camargue (just one of 6 regional natural parks of Provence) and the Ardèche Gorges are an easy drive away...For fans of the Tour de France, the iconic Mt Ventoux is not far – 2 stages of the 2021 Tour de France will be nearby. Orange, Avignon, Aix, Arles, Les Baux de Provence and the wonderful lavender fields are all within easy reach.
