Le Studio is a self contained one bedroom apartment within the main house with its own private entrance and parking. Within the living area it has a kitchenette, sofa, tv and dining table. The kitchenette, has a hob, oven, fridge, cooking essentials, crockery and cutlery.
The light and airy bedroom has a double bed with a chest of drawers and hanging space. All linen and towels (including swimming towels) are provided.
The spacious bathroom is equipped with a bath and shower. There is free wifi, ironing facilities and cleaning products.
Outside, guests have access to the wonderful pool, set within verdant gardens with spectacular view of the village and the ancient Abbey. There are sun loungers and parasols to make the most of those sunny days. The pool is only shared with guests from our other property (Le Pigeonnier), so there would only ever be a maximum of four peopled using the pool.
Our other rental property, Le Pigeonnier, is adjacent to Le Studio and consists of a bedroom, shower room downstairs and an open plan living/kitchen/dining room upstairs. It has a two terraces, an enclosed garden and private parking. It is larger than Le Studio but if booked together, it would be perfect accommodation for two couples travelling together.
My husband Ryan, and I moved to Brantome in May 2024. We were both firefighters in Scotland near Edinburgh, but gave everything up to come and run our gite, and apartment. We are lucky enough to own this beautiful house with its incredible grounds (including a great pool). We both look forward to welcoming guests to this truly beautiful village in the Dordogne, referred to as the 'Venice of Perigord'
The beautiful village of Brantome is found in the heart of the green and fresh Dronne valley. The village is surrounded by the river that forms an island and is referred to as the 'Venice of Perigord'. At the foot of the cliff with lots of grottes (caves), is the famous 11th century Abbey. It is considered by many, to be one of the world's most sacred sites, a special place that can heal the body, enlighten the mind, and awaken the soul. Hear the bells peal out from the ancient bell tower, visit the Abbey and the museum and immerse yourself in its history.
Brantome is delightful to stroll around with lots of interesting shops, bars and a large choice of restaurants. It has a very good Tourist Office, two supermarkets (Carrefour and Aldi), a smaller but excellent convenience store (Spar), a chemist, a bank, a wonderful wine shop with bottles for all budgets, a butchers and plenty of other shops including a glass blower located in one of the premises nestled into the grotte. It also has a large and vibrant market every Friday morning (and Tuesdays in the summer months).
You can canoe on the river Dronne with two local companies offering canoe hire or take a boat trip from the village centre. There are also lots of lovely walks and cycle routes in the area. About half an hour from the property there is a beautiful lake Grand Etang Saint-Estephe where you can swim, there is a beach and lots of amenities. Visit the abundance of beautiful nearby villages, notably St-Jean-de-Cole and Bourdeilles which has a magnificent 13th century castle. There are many other castles in the area to explore. There are many opportunities to do some wine tasting being so close to the Bordeaux and Bergerac wine regions or take a day trip to Bordeaux to discover this beautiful city, there are frequent trains from Perigueux. There are so many activities and attractions to suit all tastes that the only problem will be you won't be able to fit them all in!
