We offer a small but pretty traditional old French house in a quiet village near Quillan. The house is constructed of river stone, which can be seen in the lobby upon entry. There are three storeys, typical of old French village houses, with the entrance to the kitchen, dining and living room area. The patio doors open out onto a small balcony providing stunning views of the mountains opposite and the Cavirac river valley below.
The kitchen is ;rovided with all essential cooking equipment. The top floor houses the double bedroom with television and DVD player. On the ground floor is the shower room and toilet. A small patio table and two patio chairs are provided, along with a washing machine and airer for drying laundry,
We offer a low cost gite for one or two people who would like a peaceful stay in a beautiful mountain area of the Aude, and also provide a pet friendly gite, which is sometimes difficult to find.
I have always dreamed of running a gite in France. We have had several lovely holidays all over France and finally realised our dream of owning a house over here in 2018. We moved over here in 2019, in the most beautiful part of the South of France, in an old French mountain village, loving the relaxed French way of life.
I love to share our part of France with our guests, and welcome them to our pretty little gite, and to recommend places to visit, local markets and artisans, and chatting about life here in general. Local food and wine is fantastic, with several great wine producers very local to us that we can very happily recommend. We have two dogs and have several favourite walks in the local forests, the abandoned railway line in the village, and through local villages. My husband does wood turning, beautiful ultra light goblets, bowls, cups and saucers, mugs, cake stands and cocktail glasses amongst the items he turns. I recently discovered I have artistic talents and love painting, sketching and various other artistic outlets. The south of France seems particularly rich regarding artists, potters, wood turners and all sorts of other artisans. There must be something in the air down here.
Belvianes is in the Aude department of France. We boast several Cathar chateau, along with the Mediterranean only an hour and a half away. Quillan is only 3km away and has several banks, supermarkets, a good Saturday market and bars and restaurants. Limoux with its museums, restaurants and shops is only half an hour away by car and Carcassonne only an hour. La Cite in Carcassonne is a world heritage site, with its Disney style towers and castle walls, it is fantastic.
There is so much to see within a relatively short distance from here. We are still exploring and have lots more to see. We have learnt from experience that just one holiday over here is not enough to see a fraction of the wonderful attractions and scenery.
