Saint-Martin Labouval is an unspoilt rural French village with no modern developments in it. The narrow streets and lanes give an old-world feel, even though there are modern amenities a few minutes cycle or drive away. The beautiful medieval town of Cajarc is 15 minutes scenic drive east along the lot, Cahors is an easy 30 min drive west. The clifftop village of Rocmandour is 50km to the north. The area is famous for its geology and the caves at Pech Merle are 12km away. Kayak hire is 200m away on the riverbank and river cruises run daily from Bouzies, a short drive to the west. There are weekly markets in Tour de Faure and Cajarc. All around are beautiful small river villages waiting to be explored, by bike or car. The most famous is Saint Cirq Lapopie, considered one of France's most beautiful villages. Saint -Martin itself is a tranquil place and forms a small and friendly community of locals and holidaymakers. For shopping, there is a grocery in Cenevieres, a pleasant ten minute walk along the riverbank, or there is a larger supermarket at Tour de Faure , 4km to the west. Larger supermarkets can be found in Cahors. There are many nice restaurants in Saint Cirq Lapopie, Cajarc and Cahors. The area is known for its Cahors wines, which are rich and intense. Other specialities are Walnut oil, Rocmandour Cheese and Quercy Lamb. Getting around You will need a car to get the best from this location. There is a regular bus service passing the village from the nearest large town, Cahors. Many of the attractions are within cycling distance . Saint -Martin Labouval is 30 mins drive from the A20 Autoroute that runs to Toulouse airport. Driving in the area is easy and pleasant in general. Bike hire is available in Cajarc.
