​​Maison de Textile is Derek & Monique Wright's new home, moving on from running award winning and highly rated Kester House Bed & Breakfast in East Sussex, England. Having found a centuries old textile factory in the Book Village of Montolieu, we have now completely renovated the property to create a home and a three bedroom self catering apartment available for guests family and friends.
We came to South West France to retire but fell in love with Montolieu and the surrounding area so much that we want to share it. Montolieu is fascinating with its books, museum, arts, festivals and music. We love strolling through the narrow streets, taking longer walks by the two gorges or just sipping a glass watching the boules game by the church.
Montolieu is a thriving Book village with artists in residence and 15 bookshops. Several restaurants and wonderful views as it is situated between 2 river gorges. Just 15 minutes to historic Carcassonne with its 2 UNESCO World heritage sites of La Cite and the Canal du Midi. Then explore the rich Cathar history of castles, abbeys and of course the Vineyards.
