No 26” ( available for - from a minimum of 3 nights) 26 Rue du Vieux Bourg 56220 Rochefort en Terre. A lovely old town house situated in “the old town” Rochefort en Terre, “No 26” offers the perfect base from which to discover the village recently voted the most preferred in France, the delightful region of Morbihan, Brittany in general & Loire Atlantique. The house renovated in 2015/16 offers accommodation for up to three people comprising: Ground Floor: Lounge, kitchen , dining area 30 square metres. Enormous granite fireplace with wood burner, slate flagged floor, heavy beamed ceiling, antique furnishings, window and door on to Rue du Vieux Bourg .Newly installed ground floor shower room and utility area, rear door to Rue des Grées, Parking adjacent to rear door. First Floor: Winding old oak staircase leads to two bedrooms: Bedroom I - 30 square metres, beautiful room, beamed ceiling, wide chestnut floorboards, old fireplace, rugs, antique furniture, two windows giving views of the old town. Bedroom 2- Full of charm, more beams, chestnut flooring, antique small double bed, breton armoire, window with views to hills surrounding Rochefort en Terre. The house boasts much original character, including a winding oak staircase & some steps that might not suit less able visitors. Please refer to photographs.
Paul & Diana Cowley acquired "No 26" in 2014. They have lived in Allaire France for 11 years and are proprietors of "Préméhan Chambres d'Hotes" a rural enterprise 15 minutes from Rochefort en Terre. Originally from the West Midlands UK , Diana a former florist and Paul a Building Contractor, now enjoy life in rural Morbihan. Paul is blues guitarist, singer & songwriter, he performs regularly in France and the UK.
The House: Slate walls, slate roof , slate floors, old but age unknown, there have been houses on the site since early 1700's. The property has been adapted and altered numerous times over the course of its history. It would probably have been a trade persons or artisans house. Rochefort en Terre was recently voted "Village Plus Preferé en France 2016" Renowned as a village of flowers, art and ancient buildings, there is a chateau dating back to the 12th century. People travel from all over France and further afield to see the Christmas illuminations in the town. Further afield within easy travelling distance, one can visit Vannes, Auray, Carnac, Malestroit, La Gacilly, Redon, La Roche Bernard,River Vilaine, Nantes Brest Canal, Gulf de Morbihan, Nantes, Rennes, Brittany in general & Loire Atlantique. Rochefort en Terre & wider area offers a range of restaurants, bars and shops.
