Company information

My wife Helen and I moved to France in December 2020; at first renting near Bellac in the Limoges region and then, in May 2021, we found Bassinaud. We moved to our little Hamlet at the end of August that year and have spent our time redecorating and refurnishing our four rental gites. However it has not been all work and we have met some lovely people, helped to set up an amateur theatre company and put on two plays and several music nights. As we live at Bassinaud we are usually around to answer any questions you might have, make suggestions for days out and try to address any issues that may arise. The kettle is usually on so feel free to pop in for a cuppa but, please rest assured, we never intrude on your holiday.

Property information

Piaf sits at the edge of our private hamlet, Bassinaud, looking across the valley to the woods beyond. It is a cosy one-bedroom cottage with a comfortable sitting room and kitchen plus a mezzanine bedroom. It has a large, private patio and is a great place to view the, often spectacular, sunset. Piaf has reversable air conditioning, so you will be cool in the heat of the summer and warm in the cooler months. It is also a great place if you need some peace and quiet to work, write or just think.

Neighbourhood information

Bassinaud is our quiet hamlet of five cottages, plus our own house, situated in the beautiful rolling countryside of the southern Charente. The nearest town is Montmoreau, 13 km away, which has a supermarket, tabac and several restaurants and bars. One of the most beautiful villages in France, Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, is only 15km away and has a large sandy beach on a bend in the river, as well as a lovely square surrounded by bars and restaurants. Just 23km away is the market town of Riberac with the largest weekly market in the area every Friday, selling local produce and gifts. You will need a car to get to Bassinaud and these can be hired at both Limoges and Bordeaux airports. We have plenty of parking and an electric car charging point should you need to charge your car.
