## The neighborhood
Barneville-Carteret is a French commune, located on the Côte des Isles in the Manche department in the Normandy region, populated by 2,239 off-season inhabitants and 10,000 in the summer season.
It's a popular tourist resort, 40 km from the D-Day landing beaches.
Now a seaside resort, classified as a nature reserve, with Blue Flag status and Family Plus label, Barneville-Carteret plage lies on the west coast of the Cotentin peninsula, opposite the Channel Islands.
Here you can enjoy a wide range of sports: sailing school, sea rowing, surfing lessons, sea sports, boat/jet ski hire, fishing, tennis and pétanque courts, horse riding, golf (18-hole golf course in Saint Jean and mini golf course in Carteret) and cinema!
