Offering the largest collection of cottages in the Coniston area, The Coppermines Lakes Cottages are the local experts. Independent Agents, locally owned, managed and staffed since 1982.
The business was originally developed from the humble restorations of the historic Coppermines buildings, situated in the Coniston Coppermines Valley by Philip Johnston and his family who still own our business today, making us one of the last independent agencies here in the Lake District.
Over the years we have significantly grown to now offer over 90 hand-picked, unique, self-catering Lake District cottages (many pet-friendly), all of which are situated within the UNESCO World Heritage boundary.

A cosy & comfortable village home in a central yet quiet location with popular walks such as Coniston Old Man on the doorstep. With characterful beams, traditional log fire and lovely modern kitchen, 2 Dixon Ground is the perfect blend of the old and the new.
Close to all the village amenities stands a tall and thin Victorian terrace, Dixon Ground. Perfectly positioned on the footpath to the Old Man of Coniston and Levers Water, and on the foothills of the crags behind, these terraced cottages are well situated for walkers, bikers and explorers keen to get straight onto the fells.
Number 2 is a three storey cottage nestled within the terrace, up the gravelled path. The house comfortably sleeps 4 people across 2 bedrooms, with the added flexibility of beds for 6, making it perfect for couples, families or small groups of friends. If you have a bigger group however, you could also take over Number 1 Dixon Ground next door which will sleep an extra 10 in 4 bedrooms, No. 3 Dixon Ground sleeps another 5 guests across 3 bedrooms, thus extending the sleeping capacity and allowing groups of up to 19 to be comfortably accommodated across 9 bedrooms. Ideal for those big family get-togethers and celebrations.
Though centrally located, with a pub within rolling distance, the Dixon Ground Cottages are pleasantly peaceful. For keen walkers there is access to the spectacular Coniston fells direct from the front door. In essence Number 2 would suit families with children of any age or couples looking to relax and enjoy the local area.
