Our beautiful house is in a wonderful location in the heart of Montpellier, Cheltenham and within easy reach of everything the Cotswolds has to offer. 21 Montpellier Terrace is barely 100 yards from The IVY and Montpellier restaurants and across from Montpellier gardens on one of the two iconic Georgian squares for which Cheltenham is famous.
Built in 1835, 21A has gorgeous period features combined with a luxurious remodel, with stripped wood flooring, original doors and cornicing. The house is furnished with high quality furniture, beautiful bathrooms and and TV's in every bedroom. Views of the escarpment from the upper maisonette have been described as "instagrammable" and children and adults love the deep sinking tub with its bubble bath! Guests have told us that they love working at the desk in the ground floor apartment, looking at the park or sitting on the sun-filled patio on a summer's day. The lower ground flat has beautiful limestone flooring and small patio with bifold doors that open fully.
21A has been designed for guests comfort, with upgraded water pressure, 10mm shower doors and lovely Burlington fixtures in the five bedrooms. High quality appliances in the full and well-equipped kitchens and and thermostatically control central heating.
21A Montpellier Terrace is a grade II* listed building remodelled to allow guests to experience a bit of history tastefully remodelled with modern comforts.
Bronwyn and Mike Syiek moved to Cheltenham in 2017 and fell in love with the 21 Montpellier Terrace. Untouched for decades they found a talented architect who tastefully added modern conveniences while maintaining the character and period features of this beautiful home.
While originally Welsh and from the East coast respectively, Bronwyn and Mike spent 19 years together in Silicon Valley, where as fellow entrepreneurs, they welcomed visiting entrepreneurs and guests into their home. Having loved the experience they decided to do the same in Cheltenham.
Living nearby both are available and delighted to meet with guests or leave you in complete privacy. Check in is contactless but you can reach us or our housekeeper almost any time. You may run into us walking our golden doodles in the park or playing tennis on Montpellier gardens.
There are an extensive number of historic and iconic buildings in Montpellier - from The Rotunda which is now home to the Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, to the curved facade of Montpellier Wine Bar. Spot the stone sculptures known as Caryatids, modelled on the Acropolis in Athens, which add to the deliciously continental feel of the area and enjoy the sunken courtyard home to restaurants, bars and cafes.
Montpellier is a destination area where independent fashion, antiques and lifestyle boutiques sit alongside cafes and wine bars. Retailers such as Beatrice Von Tresco offer a range of beautiful unique clothes, many of which are perfect for Cheltenham horse racing events. Meanwhile Sandra Dee offers a fantastic range of lingerie and swimwear and L’una Design has everything you need for interior design.
You will also find Blushes, and The Barber Shop for your hair and beauty needs, a number of independent jewellers and Park Gallery, Spring Cheltenham, Sixteen Gallery and Paragon Gallery, all independent contemporary art galleries too.
Montpellier Gardens was part of the original Montpellier Spa developed in the early 19th Century and taken over by the Council in 1893. There are tennis courts, a children’s play area, The Gardens Gallery and a skate park along with a quieter area for relaxing, which features a small arboretum.
