You can come back in the afternoon to read and relax in our cosy lounge before heading out to sample York's great nightlife and here again we love to share our favourite haunts with you.

The immediate neighbourhood is full of architectural and historic gems. Everywhere is accessible on foot. Within 10 minutes you can be at York Minster, the National Ceramics Gallery, the National Railway Museum, the York Theatre Royal and numerous independent shops and art galleries. We are just off Bootham, a beautiful avenue which is famous for its interesting galleries and shops. The city walls are just around the corner and you can enjoy wonderful views from many of the rooms here. 23 St Mary's is located on a quiet street of historic townhouses and we are fortunate to have no passing traffic so although you are right in the middle of town, you can hardly hear any noise.
