Gwynfryn is a small mountain village in North Wales deriving its name from the Welsh word for White Hill, due to the limestone countryside. Once an old mining area with both lead and limestone quarries scattered around, this village is in an ideal location for exploring many local attractions and has excellent access to superb walking. The bustling market town of Mold lies just 8 miles away and offers a regular market, a selection of shops, good pubs and of course Theatre Clwyd, the National Theatre for Wales. Ruthin, only 12 miles away, sits on a hilltop and has a variety of attractive half-timbered buildings and interesting shops, as well as Ruthin Gaol, Ruthin Craft Centre and Nant Clwyd House with the oldest timber frame in Wales. Chester is within driving distance and boasts historic buildings, riverside walks, a racecourse and excellent shopping. There are many other places in the area that are well worth visiting including; the town of Llangollen, home to the International Eisteddfod, the breathtaking Horseshoe Pass, Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park and Clocaenog Forest. Alternatively, head to the stunning Snowdonia National Park or the beautiful North Wales coastline.
