Hi I am Katie King, (aka Kate, K, WIFE) my hubby is Wiggy (aka Paul)
We love Scotland and after several years going back and forth for husbands work we decided to permanently move to Forfar May 2023. Hence our wee home from home static caravan is to be let out. I love the sun as do our 4 doggies, hence huge south facing enclosed gated deck that our escape artist rescue Teebo tested fully and is Teebo proof!
We are always looking for dog friendly places. The Mill is onsite and super dog friendly (cafe side) open 10-4pm daily. Offering a lovely menu including Gluten free options. Forfar has a dog friendly museum and tourist information. Forfar is very dog friendly from cafes to pubs, the loch, park. We keep finding more places.
All of Angus alive museums went dog friendly 1st July 2023. We love going to local farmers markets. Forfar’s 2nd Saturday of the Month. Dundee’s is the 3rd Saturday.
A car is handy but stagecoaches bus 20 &21 operates a hail & ride on the Dundee road, as well as local taxi firms.
We love taking our pack to Drumgley Dog Park, open 24 hours a day, book your time slot and pay. A safe and secure park that is great fun and you know it will be just you and your doggies in there. Especially good if you have a doggie that is not so good with others.
We love exploring the Scottish beaches as well as the Cairngorms National Park, The Glens, and all of the independent garden centres and plant nurseries. (dog friendly ones of course) Forfar has several super markets including, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Asda, Spar, Farm foods as well as excellent independent butchers and Fishmongers.
Lochlands Holiday Park is located on the edge of Forfar (A Historic Market Town) on Dundee Road A932. It makes a perfect base to explore the Highlands, Glens, Easy commute to Dundee, Perth, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and many lochs, history and culture. Beautiful countryside and walks. There is the Forfar path networks for walkers and cyclists. Forfar Loch is approximately 1mile down the hill the carpark entrance is adjacent to the right of Lochside Caravan & Motorhome club site. On Kirriemuir Road A926 is a community leisure centre with swimming pool, refurbished gym (July 2023) courts all available to book through angus alive online or call in. The loch is just 2.5 miles mostly tarmac path around. In the welcome pack there are maps including routes that start on Dundee road as well as places of interest in Dundee, Aberdeen (the granite city) St Andrews, as well as further afield in Scotland. Forfar has a driving range and a golf course. Ewarts butchers on castle street does awesome prepared fresh dishes that you buy by weight and cook at the caravan (the spicy beef is a firm favourite). Continue on down Dundee road there is a the Forfar path network that goes up to a war memorial (google earth is the best way to see the paths if not great at map reading, which I am terrible)
