8 The Lake is a beautiful top-floor apartment set within a Victorian Mansion House and gardens on the shores of Lake Windermere.
With woodland and parkland views from every window, this fully refurbished apartment, situated at the rear of the mansion house, comprises one bedroom for two adults. It is light and bright with an open plan living/kitchen with log burner and a modern bathroom making this property a great bolt hole for an adventure getaway or romantic break.
Positioned on the south western shore of Windermere, Lake Cruises at Lakeside, The Aquarium of The Lakes, and The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are less than a mile away. You can sail from Lakeside to Bowness on Windermere, Brockhole and Ambleside. Hawkshead and the popular Grizedale Forest are both around 10 minutes in the car.
The apartment also has shared use of the mansion’s extensive, well-tended gardens. On sunny days, head outside and soak up the views across the lawns; a perfect place for a picnic with a morning coffee, G&T or a bottle of wine or go for a dip in the lake if you are brave enough!

Ideally situated for exploring the southern and central Lake District, it is within easy reach of the old market town of Ulverston, the coast at Grange-over-Sands, and charming villages such as Hawkshead and Cartmel. Adventure awaits in Grizedale Forest, and water sports are not far away on Windermere and Coniston Water. Great country pubs, cafes, and shops are all yours to discover.
Majestic scenery is all around with choice nearby walks up Gummers How and High Dam. Just down the road you’ll find the Lake Cruises with services to Bowness and Ambleside, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, the Lakeland motor Museum. Hilltop, Beatrix Potter’s home is a short drive away in Near Sawrey and you can now also visit Donald Campbell’s famous Bluebird in Coniston.
The apartment is in a wonderful, peaceful lakeside location - relax, surrounded by classic Lake District scenery.
