The HIDE @ Old Plantation is a luxurious self-contained one bedroom country retreat in Cambridgeshire with 40 acres of woodland. Set in a tranquil location, close to the village of Gamlingay, it is a magical place to relax, walk, cycle and soak up the enchanting natural setting. The HIDE has a wonderful pond view with waterlilies and willow trees. Ducks, herons, red kites and migrating geese can often be spotted without moving off the living room couch!
Having travelled extensively, we have been lucky to experience many special guest homes internationally and we now love creating a memorable stay for others to enjoy our private woodland retreat. We are keen walkers and cyclists and love to share our favourite routes with visitors.
You may feel you are a million miles away from everything, but you are just a mile from Gamlingay village which has a Co-Op, Pharmacy, village pubs (The Wheatsheaf and Cock) Indian and Chinese takeaway. Many of our guests struggle to venture away from the sublime natural surroundings, but if you are feeling restless nearby places of interest include RSPB at Sandy, Shuttleworth Air Museum and Swiss Garden, Wimpole Hall Estate, Paus, a Scandi style hot tub and Sauna venue and historic Cambridge, all within 35 minutes drive. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy the Greensand Ridgeway and various off road cycle and walking routes. For golfers there is the outstanding John O Gaunt golf course at Potton and Cambridgeshire Country Club at Bourn, both a short 15 minute drive away. Sandy train station has a 46 minute connection into London St Pancras and is just 9 minutes by car.
A car is needed to reach local shops, restaurants and places on interest. If you are a cyclist bring your bike for enjoyable fairly flat Cambridgeshire bike rides.
