Our distinctive detached property – an elegant 19th century traditional Scottish town cottage, is situated in the heart of Dornoch: we are very close to the town’s many varied amenities and ‘just down the road’ from one of the world’s great golf destinations. It is sometimes claimed that the town and golf links conspire with one another to cast a magical spell over all who visit Dornoch ... This may be true, but our mission is to ensure that you experience a very relaxing night’s sleep, followed by a memorable breakfast to set you up for the day ahead. Our two guest rooms – which can be ‘doubles’ or ‘twins’, feature good size beds with soft cotton pillows and fine linen sheets, and they both have ensuite bathrooms. We like to describe our house as being characterful and distinctive, and our accommodation as welcoming and comfortable ... The Owners and Managers of Albatross B & B Dornoch are Matthew Harris and his Brazilian wife, Queila - a couple of albatrosses who have wandered far from home. For the best part of thirty years Matthew has been one of the world’s leading golf photographers. In addition to capturing some of the sport’s seminal moments and photographing its greatest exponents – from Nicklaus and Watson, to Ballesteros, Norman and Faldo, and Woods, McIlroy and Koepka while covering more than 100 Major Championships, he has also been fortunate to travel the six continents and photograph most of the world’s most venerated golf courses. So why does he choose to live in Dornoch?... The unrivalled golf? The unrivalled light and scenery? The unrivaled whisky? (yes, Matthew describes himself as ‘an outdoor-living golf and whisky enthusiast’). Or perhaps, as Queila would more succinctly put it, ‘it’s the quality of life here’. As your hosts, Matthew and Queila are very happy to share their knowledge of golf, Dornoch and the wider Highland region, and will be pleased to advise you in relation to your 19th hole plans and any more general wishes or requirements.
