Welcome to Autumn House. Peel off your walking boots, pop the kettle on and feel at home in our two bedroom cottage. You'll find room for four to rest, play and explore inside of the stone-built home from home. A beautiful new bathroom and kitchen, as well as cosy living room, front and back garden, and two bedrooms, play host to your next break in Alnwick.
The Bathroom
Fix up and look sharp in our bright and beautiful new bathroom. You will find eco friendly, vegan body wash from Bower Collective in the bathroom, as well Bumboo bamboo toilet rolls, cotton face cloths and a sensitive hand wash by the basin. A bath and shower over top mean guests big and small have somewhere to wash. Underfloor heating a towel radiator, basin and storage within.
The Bedrooms
Our two bedrooms can accommodate up to four guests. The master houses a double bed, built in wardrobes, trunk and console, whilst the second bedroom has two single beds, with a half-height wardrobe and small bench. Both rooms have reading lamps and black-out curtains. Small but perfectly formed, we ask that no more than four people occupy the house at any one time.
Entertainment
Enjoy free wifi throughout your stay.
We love the great outdoors, but understand folks want to kick back after a big day of adventure with their fave shows or a good movie. Make an occasion of it with our Philips projector; simply turn it on and allow it to auto focus, before streaming from Netflix, Disney+, Youtube and more... or casting from your mobile phone.
We love switching off with a board game or good book, too. Dive into one of our books, or challenge your fellow travellers to a game - find them in the living room console - where a phone charger, extension socket, and bluetooth speaker are located.
Spick and Span
You will find all purpose cleaner, toilet cleaner, cloths and window/glass cleaner under the sink, along with bin bags, laundry essentials and scrubbers. Under the stairs
About you hosts, Lauren and David. We were born and raised in the North East of England, where we met and fell in love. After many adventures of own, as we travelled across the globe exploring Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, North America and many more wonderful places, before we moved to New Zealand for several years! In 2024 we returned to Northumberland, where we live today. David is part of the team at The Alnwick Castle - whilst Lauren has a graphic and web design studio.
Alnwick attracts those young and old with its array of attractions; from the magic of The Alnwick Castle (1.2km), where Harry Potter fans flock for broomstick lessons, to the splendour of The Alnwick Gardens (500m), with its outstanding water features, cherry and rose gardens. Alongside them, the infamous Barter Books (400m) offers a treasure trove for book lovers, whilst the allure of Lilidoreri captures the hearts of little ones. All this before we reach the magnificent Northumberland Coast, National Park, wild woods, sunny beach towns and breathtaking crags in its surrounds.
When you think you've done it all, Alnwick will enchant you with something more - Gin tasting in a cosy pub, a live show at The Playhouse, long walks in Hulne Park or bird watching by the sea.
On a more practical note... On your doorstep, you'll find free street parking right outside the door, a small co-op a mere one minute walk away, and cafes, pubs and places to enjoy a dinner within 10 minutes stroll. From swimming pools to cookery schools, there's so much to explore.
Our favourite spots include Turnbulls of Alnwick (800m), for local tasty treats; an infamous Greggs pit stop in a busy day on the go; charming Craster (12km) for its Kippers and clifftop walks; Alnmouth for unmatched views and The Dirty Bottles for a pint at the end of a long day.
