Several hundred feet up, nestled in the heart of the quintessentially English village of Bonsall, lies our enchanting cottage. Overflowing with character, its ancient walls tell tales through art, antiques and textiles. Perched on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District, this gem sits amidst the UK's most breathtaking countryside, grand stately homes, and significant landmarks, including the birthplace of the industrial revolution. Welcome to Bert's!
I live in Notting Hill, London, with my partner and our two precious girls. I spent a lot of my upbringing in rural Derbyshire and during lockdown, alongside my partner Lauren, decided to renovate and decorate a cottage with great potential in the local village. Bert's is the result of that - and we are very proud of what we've achieved. I'm the co-founder of The Antique Jewellery Company, the leading antique and vintage jewellery destination in the UK. I'm a lover of all things design - art/architecture/web/interiors/textiles. Likes a good party and getting stuck in at Glasto.
Bert's is situated in the heart of Bonsall, yards from its medieval village cross and the King's Head Pub - active since 1675. Bonsall is a living, breathing village with a friendly and welcoming community. Enjoy diverse and picturesque walking trails right from our doorstep, including the Heights of Abraham, Bonsall Moor and the Jug Hole Cave. Soak in the atmosphere of the award-winning Barley Mow pub, famed for its World Hen Racing Championship - a ten minute walk over the top. Discover Cromford and Arkwright's Mill, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution - a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk away. Marvel at Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, two of Englands finest stately homes - a 15 minute drive away. Explore the rugged uplands, limestone dales, and rolling grasslands of the Peak District National Park - which begins a 15 minute drive away. Use Bert's as your launchpad to an epic array of cycling routes, suitable for all ages and levels, including The Tissington and High Peak Trails. Your adventure - little or large - awaits!
