Betty's Barn is just a 5 minute drive away from the village of Evershot, a timeless and popular village. On the High Street you will find a village shop, bakery and the highly acclaimed The Acorn Inn, which Thomas Hardy called "The Sow & Acorn" in his novel "Tess of the d’Urbervilles". Evershot is also home to the luxury Summer Lodge Hotel which offers spa treatments and a magnificent restaurant.
At the other end of the village you will find Melbury Park and can enjoy a stunning walk through this beautiful deer park.
A short drive away you will discover the town of Dorchester (10 miles) which is host to a wealth of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as an abundance of tourist attractions including the Dorset County Museum, home to the Thomas Hardy archive and collection.
The Abbey town of Sherborne is a 25 minute drive away and perfect for a day of wandering through antique shops or visiting the historic Sherborne Castle and Gardens.
Mapperton Gardens is a short drive away from Evershot and well worth a visit.
National Trust properties such as Montacute House, Lytes Cary, Tintinhull, and Barrington Court are just a short drive away.
The nearby village of Cerne Abbas is the home of the Cerne Giant an ancient naked figure sculpted into the chalk hillside. The village also has three popular pubs and a tea shop, an ancient abbey with pretty gardens and many beautiful cottages to admire.
West Dorset is renowned for its lively, popular and eclectic food scene. Not forgetting the regular local food markets that are held offering visitors a taste of the delicious local produce. Beaminster, Bridport and Westbay are all within easy reach, along with numerous quaint villages.
