Known as Shropshire's Lakeland, Ellesmere is a picturesque market town with buildings from the Tudor, Georgian, and Victorian periods. It is located between the Shropshire Meres and the famous Shropshire to Llangollen canal. History abounds in this tranquil town, which was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon settlement. Thomas Telford called this place home during the construction of the canal network in the late 18th century, and the town's lovely church has a roof dating back to the 15th century. There is plenty to do in and around the town's meres, as well as a wide selection of shops, pubs, and restaurants. You can take a stroll through Cremorne Gardens, go fishing or boating, enjoy the beautiful scenery of Colemere Country Park, or take a stroll along the canal. An attractive place that caters to visitors of all ages and interests throughout the year.
