Gretna Green is only half a mile away (4 mins by car, 15 mins walk) and is world famous for runaway marriages, which dates back to 1700's when young people from England could get married under the age of 18 without the consent of their parents.
Gretna is the perfect place to break the journey when travelling North or South.

Being located on the Solway Firth, the Heritage Trail follows the coast up into Dumfriesshire which boasts fantastic scenery.
