Our property is surrounded by beautiful countryside with a fantastic view from both the lounge and dining room. We offer the ultimate in luxurious Bed & breakfast, “Céad Mile Fáilte” meaning a hundred thousand welcomes in Irish, is what we offer you at Bonners Lodge. Ken is Irish so our house is full of Irish humour and hospitality. Our guests will always enjoy a warm and friendly welcome and accommodation of a very high standard. Relax in one of our luxurious centrally heated bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, warmed fluffy towels, comfortable beds with exquisite Egyptian cotton sheets. Enjoy our lounge with lovely views over the countryside, 3D TV & sky box available for use. We have a selection of DVDs, board games and books for your enjoyment or simply enjoy the peace and tranquility at Bonners Lodge. We offer Bed & Breakfast with the option of a sharing platter for an evening meal & packed lunch, made on the premises using local produce. Free Wi-Fi available. Ken Ken is from Cork in Southern Ireland moving to the UK 16 years ago to work as an Aircraft maintenance engineer for Virgin Atlantic. He has a passion for aeroplanes, and had his pilot’s licence before he had his driving licence. His dream was to fly cargo planes but unfortunately he had an accident which punctured his lung so he failed his medical. He then worked in his father’s company as a coach builder before turning back to his true love of Aircraft. He has 2 grown up daughters and 3 beautiful grandchildren living in Ireland. Michelle I am a local girl brought up in Brunswick village on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne. An accountant by profession working both in Practise and Industry. Recently giving up the stressful job of working for a Global company as a Financial Controller for the simpler life in the country. I now have a small accounting practise which I run alongside the Bed & Breakfast. I have a great love of all animals and am always rescuing abandoned and injured animals. I have 1 daughter and 2 beautiful grandchildren living in Yorkshire. Ken and I met in 2005 and were married in 2011 We are situated on a 4 acre site and have lots of animals for our guests to meet if they so wish. Rosheen my 17hh Irish draught mare Rusty the minature shetland who is 9hh but things he bigger than Rosheen Rayhan our donkey Merlin and Sunny the Alpacas Sheamus the Black nose Swiss Valais sheep - just loves his cuddles Shona our very old rescue sheep Hugo and Henry our Zwarbutle sheep saved from going to the mart our pygmy goats Sally, Sue and their children Dottie Ragnar Pixie and Bandit - always up to mischief Our 4 dogs Charlie who is now deaf and blind was rescued 9 years ago, Bess and Sam rescued in 2019 and our youngster Jack our Bengal cat Raffiqi and our maincoone cat Orla
In the immediate area there are plenty of public footpaths, bridleways & cycle routes that you can use leaving directly from Bonners Lodge. We are just one field away from the Waskerley Way which is used by walkers, horse riders and cyclists, this route is part of the coast to coast. The route passes by the Waskerley and Smiddy Shore resevoirs through picturesque moorland. Beamish museum, Hamsterley Forest, Hall Hill Farm, Kynren are only a short drive away. Or visit Durham with its magnificent cathedral and lovely shops.Discover the local beautiful towns & villages Wolsingham – 8 miles Blanchland Medieval Village & Abbey – 14 miles Lying beneath magnificent fells, Blanchland is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt villages in England. Built from local stone from the remains of the twelfth Century Abbey there is a very special atmosphere and the village is steeped in history. Stanhope 13 miles– outdoor swimming pool & Durham Dales centre Corbridge – 18 miles with its arts and crafts shops Hexham - 20 miles Drive through beautiful Weardale, passing through Stanhope, East Gate, West Gate, St Johns Chapel arriving in Alston
