Near the boundaries of Somerset and Dorset, to which it really belonged until the late 1800s, Tytherleigh is a tiny village in Devon on the Fosse Way Roman Road. The Old English word for "thin" or "tender woodland" is the source of the hamlet name, which was first mentioned in writing in the middle of the 12th century. With a great bar and fantastic cuisine, Tytherleigh is now a great starting point for anyone who want to walk, cycle, or ride horses while exploring the West Country. In Tytherleigh, a local store and a pub are close by, and driving to Axminster and Chard is simple. Each has its own museum, heritage centre, unique shops, and great inns offering delectable local fare and beer.
