Our Guest House is a lovely Georgian townhouse situated on the Bute-ti-ful Isle of Bute. Only a short stroll from Rothesay town centre, restaurants, bars and the ferry terminal. During your stay you can look forward to relaxing and enjoy the magnificent views of Rothesay Bay overlooking the beautiful Kyles from the comfort of your room and our seated gardens. We offer a full Scottish breakfast and full Vegan Scottish breakfast, along with various continental options such as cereals, fruits, homemade Scottish porridge oats and hot filled rolls. Juice, teas, coffees, milk, soya and oat milk. The Guest House has extensive green gardens to the rear with seating area as well as a seated garden area to the front overlooking the beautiful Rothesay Harbour. Relax and unwind while watching the famous Waverley Steam Ship and Caledonian Macbrayne Ferry pass by. Both greeted and Self check-in with lock code access available depending on check in times. Built in 1827 as a gentleman’s residence, Cannon House stands almost opposite to what was once the site of the islands first Cannon Battery which was erected by Oliver Cromwells troops during the Civil War. In the 1640’s Rothesay castle was taken over by Cromwellian forces and was held by them until 1659. It was during this time that the first Cannon Battery on the island was built by Parliamentary troops in order to ensure that the safe anchorage of Rothesay Bay was defended at all times. Whether you are visiting for work or adventure, our staff are always happy to help and will try to accommodate requests and Island information wherever possible. We look forward to hosting you!
