Cosy top floor loft apartment in house with 16C origins in the heart of the cathedral city of Norwich with views over the Wensum valley punctuated by many of the Church spires for which Norwich is renowned. Please note: Apartment consists of entire 2nd floor loft area and is part of a house with shared front door~ bedroom and lounge/kitchenette are independently lockable. Access to the property is through front Georgian aspect. The entrance and staircase to the first landing being shared with the host when they are in residence. Due to the age and Grade 2 Listing of the property it would not be considered fully accessible to all: the staircase to the top floor winds and is narrow. Guests may struggle with very large baggage. The accommodation consists of the entire (second) floor of the house from the foot of the stairs on the floor below. This was re-designed in September 2022 to give a contemporary feel to a period property. There is no lockable door at the bottom of these stairs but the lounge and bedroom both have locks so that your belongings are always safe whilst you are out. The bedroom has a small double bed with a quality mattress. We do not offer two bed accommodation, but the sofa in the lounge converts to a larger comfortable double bed that some couples might find a more spacious alternative. The bedding will fit either bed. The owner often resides in the lower floors of the house and sometimes has to care for a small dog who is confined to these areas. Please contact the owner if this is a concern. Pottergate is a usually peaceful cobbled street benefitting from very little through traffic, lying parallel to, and running between, two of the more lively streets, St Giles and St Benedicts. It lacks their vivacity apart from the occasional revellers returning on foot to the west of the city.
I have worked for the NHS for 30 years and live in central Norwich. I only recently decided to host guests and was fortunate enough to have this property which affords a very centrally located base for guests to explore this beautiful city. I enjoy cycling and getting out to explore the many wild spaces around Norwich and beyond.
59 Pottergate is centrally situated in ‘The Lanes’ neighbourhood of the city. It is a 2 minute walk to the river Wensum and centrally placed in the district of “The Lanes” with its lively restaurant and bar culture, independent retailers and galleries. Cinemas, theatres and the Arts Centre are all less than 5 minutes walk away.
