Chesthill House is the principal sporting lodge on South Chesthill Estate, but there is also Chesthill House Annex and Gardener's Cottage. These are also bookable via this website.
Chesthill House sleeps up to 16. With COVID restrictions in 2020, the house can be split into the main house (sleeps 8 - 11) and the rear annex (sleeps 4-7) which can be booked together. In total there are 7 twin bedrooms and 1 single, plus an en-suite bedsit on the ground floor which is normally used for a cook/chef. 4 of the twins are en-suite (with baths and showers), and the remaining 4 bedrooms share 1 bathroom between 2 adjacent bedrooms (and 2 of the 4 have basins). The dining table seats 12 comfortably so it is recommended to limit adults to that number, with the other rooms available for children, however the table can be extended to 14 if required.
The lodge is let on a fully furnished basis including all linen and towels. Daily housekeeping is provided and it is recommended that a cook be employed (we can recommend a good agency). The estate keeper will be on standby to help you with all outdoor activities.
There are nine hole golf courses at Aberfeldy, Kenmore, Strathtay and Killin, and an attractive 18 hole course at Taymouth Castle. Water sports are available on Loch Tay and pony trekking is available locally.
There are many places of historic interest and gardens within easy reach, including the Fortingall Yew, reputed to be the oldest living thing in Europe! One of the most popular attractions is the area around Blair Castle and the town of Blair Atholl as there is the castle to visit, many visitor centres on the working estate and some of the great scenes of the southern Highlands. Away from Blair there are many great and distinctive Glens to visit, with Munroes to scale or small villages to explore. There are many Castles and historic country houses to visit both in the glens and down on the straths. Notable famous attractions include Scone Palace, Dunkeld Cathedral, the many four-poster stone formations that can be found near Strathtay and Strathmore, and Birnam Wood and Dunsinane Hill, famous from Shakespeare's Macbeth.
