Churchwood Valley is a family-run business and we love what we do!

Property information

Welcome to Churchwood Valley! Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside… A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path. Away from it all… If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of bird life, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels and other wildlife. There are no discos, bars or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette.

Neighbourhood information

Churchwood Valley is a haven of peace within an environmental paradise, close to a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path. Our 75 acres include the coast, woodlands and pasture, and adjoin farms, National Trust land and the village of Wembury. Our timber cabins and lodges are designed to sit comfortably in the wooded environment while providing modern levels of comfort. Guests often say that being in a chalet in Churchwood is as close as possible to living with nature while having all the comforts of home. But being close to nature doesn’t isolate our guests from vital facilities such as shops, surgeries, hairdresser and places to eat. Local sporting facilities include free tennis courts, riding stables and a sailing club. Walk along the spectacular coast path in one direction to Mountbatten and take the Water Taxi to the famous Barbican in waterfront Plymouth. Walk the other way and you’ll come to the River Yealm, a stunning estuary with trees growing down to the water’s edge. You can take the ferry to either to Newton Ferrers, with its shops and the Dolphin Inn, or to Noss Mayo which has two fine pubs, the Ship and the Swan, both of which serve excellent food.
