Cwmwbwb Lodge is a 300 year old stone cottage and former hunting lodge of the Marquis of Bute!
Fully renovated for your comfort, the lodge nestles on the side of Caerphilly Mountain - with views across the mountain and local golf course.
You're just a two minute drive from Caerphilly town and train station with all the amenities you need including shops, bars and restaurants. And while you'll love this peaceful spot - you're less than a 20 min train ride away from the Welsh capital, Cardiff.
The cottage boasts an eye-catching interior - including leopard print carpet! The kitchen-diner is a lovely social space - while our cosy lounge is perfect for cuddling up in front of the TV at the end of the day. Two good size double bedrooms give views down the mountain and the bathroom has a bath for those who like more than just a shower. Double doors lead off the kitchen to a very private patio perfect for relaxing on a summer's evening.
There is parking directly outside for two cars...and two more spaces about 100 yards along our private road.
Welcome to Caerphilly, a valleys town just eight miles north of the Welsh capital of Cardiff.
Cwmwbwb Lodge is situated on the outskirts of the town centre on Caerphilly Mountain - which at just under 1,000 feet above sea level - is a great spot for walking, picnicking, cycling and bird watching. (we often hear owls and woodpeckers near the house). Wildlife is a blessing here – we have friendly fox visitors, hedgehogs, bats and frogs. While surrounded by greenery and wildlife, you’re just a stone’s throw from the town centre at the bottom of the mountain which has pretty much everything you need for a short stay with supermarkets, shops, pubs, restaurants, a post office, gyms, leisure centres and banks.
We are proud to have the largest castle in Wales (and second largest in the UK) in our town too… you’ll see it standing proudly in the centre of the town with its moat, towers, and a leaning wall. There’s a lovely walk around the castle and if it takes your fancy you can pay to go inside too. It will take you less than five minutes to drive down into the town. To walk into town it’s maybe 15 minutes…walking back slightly longer unless you’re one of those very fit people.
Cardiff is easily accessible by train from Caerphilly, with regular services running throughout the day – on average about five per hour.
