While staying at Demelza, you’ll be ideally positioned to explore the best of southeast Cornwall’s countryside and coast.
The nearest town is Liskeard, just a 20 minute drive away, nestled at the edge of Bodmin Moor in southeast Cornwall. Liskeard boasts a rich history that dates back to the Domesday Book of 1086. Once a significant tin mining town, it still retains its Victorian charm with its historic buildings and warm local atmosphere.
In less than 25 minutes by car, you can reach various coastal areas. Looe is one of the most popular seaside towns near Liskeard, while Polperro is a picturesque fishing village adorned with whitewashed cottages and steep, winding lanes. Talland Bay, located between Looe and Polperro, is smaller and quieter, featuring rocky coves, sandy patches, and crystal-clear waters. Additionally, Whitesand Bay offers miles of sandy beaches, and the views from Rame Head are simply amazing.
For nature lovers, the nearby South West Coast Path is one of the UK's longest national trails, stretching 630 miles. It's perfect for hiking and provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, relax, exercise, and escape from the stresses of daily life.
During your visit, a must-see attraction is the Eden Project, an incredible ecological park built in a reclaimed clay pit. This beautiful oasis of plants features one of the world’s largest greenhouses, including the largest indoor rainforest.
