Welcome to Deveron Valley Cottages! We’re Ally and Jason, and we’ve been calling Aberdeenshire home since 2019 when we moved up from South Wales. Nestled in a beautifully renovated farm steading, we run our holiday homes with a passion for creating a welcoming, peaceful retreat for our guests.
Before making the leap to Scotland, Jason worked as a master blacksmith, crafting incredible pieces with skill and artistry, while Ally spent her time in the fast-paced world of customer service. Now, we get to enjoy a slower, more creative way of life—surrounded by stunning landscapes, friendly faces, and the things we love most.
We both have a deep appreciation for the outdoors and can often be found exploring the countryside on long walks. Arts and crafts, motorbikes, and dogs are a huge part of our world, and speaking of dogs, no introduction would be complete without mentioning Morag—our retired greyhound, who spends her days lounging in the sun and reminding us to take life at a relaxed pace.
Deveron Valley has given us the chance to share this incredible corner of Scotland with others, and we love welcoming visitors to experience the beauty and tranquility of our little haven. Whether you're here for a quiet escape or an adventure in the Highlands, we’re here to make your stay special.
Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Discover the Hidden Gems of Aberdeenshire
We're always uncovering new treasures in this beautiful part of Scotland, but here are some of our current favorites!
Portsoy is a charming coastal town, home to the famous Portsoy Ice Cream Shop, where you can indulge in some of the best homemade ice cream around. Cullen, with its quirky antique shops, is a haven for treasure hunters, offering unique finds and a glimpse into local history.
For beach lovers, Sandend Beach is a must-visit. Whether it's summer or the middle of winter, the waves are always rolling in—perfect for surfers. Even better, dogs are welcome year-round, so your four-legged companions can enjoy the seaside too.
Our local village, Aberchirder (fondly known as Foggie), offers a warm and friendly atmosphere. The family-run pub serves up delicious homemade meals most evenings—just make sure to book ahead to secure your spot!
History and whisky lovers are in for a treat as we sit right on the Whisky and Castle Trails, with Fyvie Castle and Glendronach Distillery both nearby. If you’re fascinated by Scotland’s ancient past, keep an eye out for Pictish standing stones and ancient stone circles—they seem to appear out of nowhere! The Rothiemay stone circle, just a few miles from us, is one of the closest and most intriguing.
For an unforgettable adventure, the Cabrach Region is breatn fascinating history and much clohtakingly remote and wonderfully peaceful, offering a chance to explore the reindeer park, ski school, and visitor centre.
A little farther afield, but well worth the journey, are Dunottar Castle, a dramatic cliffside fortress with incredible views, and Huntly Castle, steeped in fascinating history and much closer to home.
We're always adding new discoveries to our recommendations—so if you stumble across something special, let us know, and we’ll go explore too!
Aberdeenshire is full of surprises—come and see what you find!
