Eastdale Bed and Breakfast is a traditional detached house, built in 2008. It has a large grey gravel driveway with ample parking for guests. The house is warm and cosy, light and airy, and situated in a quiet neighbourhood. We pride ourselves on keeping everywhere really clean and tidy and all our guests, since we opened in May 2014, have said they really enjoyed their stay. We have excellent reviews on Trip Advisor.
Guests are welcome to spend time relaxing in the garden, and it is nice to sit and watch the many wild birds coming to feed at our bird table.
We welcome cyclists and walkers, offering a relaxing restful overnight or longer stay. There are many cycle routes in the area and we are ideally situated for anyone walking the Wolds Way/Trans Pennine Way. Sheltered lockable cycle storage available free of charge.
In our hallway we have a large selection of tourist information leaflets, so guests can have a look and, if they wish, visit some of the attractions and places of interest in the East Riding of Yorkshire and beyond. In particular we are ideally situated for day trips to the East Coast and the historic towns of Hull, Beverley, York and Lincoln.
I have always enjoyed meeting people, and so running Eastdale Bed and Breakfast is a real pleasure. I like to make everyone feel welcome, so they can relax and enjoy their stay. In room complimentary teas and coffee sachets, along with fresh milk and biscuits are provided. In the morning, a delicious Full English breakfast is served in the Sunroom, which overlooks the garden. There are lighter options available and lots of cereals, fruit and yoghurts to choose from as well.
I enjoy everything about being a Bed and Breakfast host, so it feels like a hobby rather than work! As far as other hobbies go, I don't have a lot of spare time, but when I do, I like to paint pictures, go walking in the countryside, and love watching good TV dramas. I enjoy dining out and, as we have a favourite place where we go ourselves regularly, we can recommend this to all our guests. In the past I have worked as a Medical Secretary for the NHS, and also in retail, both vocations involving a lot of face to face contact with the public, and so this experience has been invaluable.
I cook a really nice Full English Breakfast and passed the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering with credit, prior to opening our B & B.
Melton is a semi-rural village, situated approximately eight miles west of Hull. It is fairly quiet and conveniently located for anyone wanting to visit the historic towns of Hull, Beverley, York or Lincoln, all of which are easily accessible by car. There is a bus service right outside our house which takes you to and from Hull City Centre. From Hull there are other buses and a major train station, for anyone without a car who wishes to travel further afield. There are also several local taxi companies.
I have lived in Melton on and off since I was two years old, and have experienced very many day trips to lots of places in the East Riding of Yorkshire and beyond. There are stately homes to visit, several nice coastal resorts, lots of pretty villages, many museums, beautiful countryside, and we are just next to the Yorkshire Wolds way, a walking route which starts at Hessle and goes over the Yorkshire Wolds to the East Coast. We are also on the Trans-pennine walking and cycle route.
Hull was awarded City of Culture 2017 and is an attractive and interesting City to visit. Three shopping centres, attractive marina, plenty of places to eat. Free museums & art gallery.
