Stay in a beautifully restored 1821 Georgian Regency townhouse in the heart of Lewes. This former Sussex Probate Registry and later Boutique Hotel is now a private residence, offering a limited number of exclusive guest rooms. This second-floor front room features a comfortable double bed and ensuite shower room. Guests have their own private space but no access to the rest of the house. Ideal for short-term visitors looking for a quiet, refined base in Lewes.
We’re a semi-retired couple living in a beautiful Georgian townhouse in the centre of Lewes. The house was formerly the Sussex Probate Registry and, more recently, a boutique hotel — we’re now making one of the rooms available again for short-term guests.
We enjoy welcoming visitors to this historic town but offer a quiet, private experience. Guests have exclusive use of their room and ensuite, but the rest of the house is private. We’re always happy to recommend local walks, cafés, and places of interest — or simply leave you in peace to enjoy your stay.
Our home is set in the heart of historic Lewes, just 10 yards from the charming High Street with its independent shops, coffee houses, pubs, and restaurants — all within a few minutes’ walk. Lewes Castle is just a 5-minute stroll away, and the beautiful open-air Pells Pool is around 10 minutes on foot. The train station is easily reached in 8–10 minutes via a level walk, or slightly faster if you're comfortable with a short hill.
Lewes is rich in history and atmosphere, offering everything from medieval architecture to modern artisan cafés. It’s also the perfect base for exploring Glyndebourne Opera House, the Love Supreme Jazz Festival, and the South Downs National Park. Brighton is just a short, direct train ride away, and Gatwick Airport can be reached in around 30 minutes by direct train — making Lewes an ideal location for both relaxing breaks and wider travel.
