Boltby is a very attractive village with pretty cottages a church and a PonyTrekking Centre. Close by are two renowned Michelin starred restaurants. The Star Inn is owned by Andrew Pern and is located in Harome and the Black Swan, brainchild of Tommy Banks is in Oldstead. You can even order a Made in Oldstead box as a special treat. If you prefer something a little less fancy, Helmsley and Thirsk have many excellent restaurants for all tastes and budgets.
Enjoy an exhilarating day out at the Yorkshire Outdoors Centre which offers rough terrain driving in a 4x4, quad bike trekking and clay pigeon shooting. With expert supervision from experienced professional instructors, you are sure to have the time of your life.

Helmsley boasts many individual shops, an Arts Centre and the National Birds of Prey Centre in the grounds of Duncombe Park. Many of the birds take to the skies in spectacular flying demonstrations or are part of important breeding projects. From the tiny terrestrial Burrowing Owl to the mighty and majestic Steller’s Sea Eagle the National Centre for Birds of Prey houses the largest collection of birds of prey in the north of England.
Thirsk is only five miles away and is the home of the original Skeldale House where the World of James Herriot Museum is to be found, an award winning attraction and well worth a visit.
Head towards the coast and visit Pickering, with its Castle and famous North York Moors Railway; book an afternoon tea on board and marvel at the stunning scenery whist chugging your way from Pickering to Whitby along the coast.
An historic fishing town with its Cistercian monastery, Whitby and its Abbey is famed for its association with Bram Stoker, who took his inspiration for the Dracula books from here; and Captain James Cook who sailed from Whitby on the Endeavour to discover Australia.
