Wighton is a quiet village located less than four miles south of the popular traditional seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea. Surrounded by open farmland, Wighton is a quintessential Norfolk hamlet with secret lanes. Peaceful and picturesque, the village is predominantly made up of charming brick and flint cottages. The village pub, The Carpenters Arms, is a popular destination for locals and visitors, serving great locally sourced food, and some of the best pizzas around, plus a selection of real ales on tap. Wighton Church is something of a landmark. Sitting on a high rise, it can be seen for miles around.
Home to historical buildings, including two medieval monastic houses, neighbouring Little Walsingham, is the location of the Abbey Grounds and Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. Neighbouring Great Walsingham, strangely the smaller of the two, hosts a gallery and craft barn and local cafe serving delicious lunches, light snacks and award-winning pies, plus Walsingham Farm Shop sells local produce and good quality meat - the perfect place to grab food for a scrumptious BBQ. Also be sure to visit VinedMe in the village for wine, deli and gifts.
Travel in style on the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway, or cycle round the surrounding quiet lanes. The area provides a variety of dining at various pubs and restaurants including The Three Horseshoes at Warham.
Less than ten-minutes by car, Binham Priory hosts a range of summer concerts making the most of its excellent acoustics and ambience. Priory Farm provides raw milk, and a dairy shop with cheeses, butter, ice cream and coffee. The Parlour cafe is a recent addition and proving to be very popular.
