Property information

Hawke Cottage is a perfect blend of self-catering freedom and resort facilities. With two en suite bedrooms, a modern interior and a private garden, this superb, thatched stone cottage lies within the grounds of the Dartmouth Hotel. Guests can use the swimming pool and access exceptional golf courses, the clubhouse, and the spa. The Woodlands Leisure Park is two minutes away. And it’s a short drive to Dartmouth’s riverside, picturesque Dittisham, and the beaches of Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands.

Neighbourhood information

The shops and restaurants are on your doorstep, with the locally renowned breakfast spot Cafe Alf Resco opposite the main entrance. Head left, and you will find Bayards Cove, where the Mayflower set sail for America. On the riverfront, you will find Mitch Tonks 'The Rockfish' and 'The Seahorse'. Also, on the riverfront, you will find transport links via the ferries and steam trains in Kingswear. Blackpool Sands is the closest beach, a 10-minute drive away Dining Out Dartmouth hosts a number of great pubs and restaurants, including most famously Mitch Tonks ‘The Seahorse and ‘Rock Fish’. Local favourites include Kendrick’s and Taylors in the town centre, as well as great pub food from the Floating Bridge and The Dartmouth Arms. The Sportsman’s Arms on the way out of town is a favourite for a Sunday carvery, there is also an abundance of great restaurants in the surrounding villages with the Green Dragon and Kendricks in Stoke Fleming. Shopping If you are looking to do a big shop before your stay, there is a Sainsbury’s and a Lidl on the edge of Dartmouth or an M&S Simply Food in the town centre as well as a range of shops on the high street. Towns to explore The market town of Totnes is 14 miles from Dartmouth. Accessible by road or river, Totnes has an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants (especially if you are interested in vegetarian and vegan cuisine). From Totnes, the towns of Torbay are easily accessible, as well as attractions including Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts and Pennywell Farm. Paignton can also be visited via steam train from Kingswear on the opposite side of the river to Dartmouth. Arcades and piers are still the main features of this seaside town. Salcombe is 20 miles away. This popular coastal town is the home of Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream, two lovely beaches, and some great sailing.
