Positioned alongside Shaldon Bridge with stunning views over the Teign Estuary and out to Sea, The Old Toll House is an historic landmark situated on the South West Coast Path.
A well preserved early 19th Century building, updated throughout. The property is arranged with 2 bedrooms, sitting/ dining room, kitchen and bathroom. With a great outdoor space with amazing views.
Featured in The Guardian and on historical websites there's plenty to research on the property and the surrounding area.
With a characterful cottage feel the sitting room has a side aspect with views out towards Shaldon & Teignmouth across the River Teign and out to Sea.
The charming kitchen has a side aspect with river views and door leading out to the side patio and garden, fitted with an integrated oven and electric hob and fridge/freezer.
The stylish ground floor bathroom provides a wet room shower, bath, basin, ladder style radiator and space and a washing machine.
Bedroom 1 has a dual aspect with wonderful panoramic views along the Teign Estuary and over to Shaldon and neighbouring hillside. Bedroom 2 has a side as aspect with river views.
OUTSIDE
To the left of the front of the property, behind a low stone wall, is a charming ornamental garden, to the right is a gate leading to a rear entrance with an elevated lawned garden, accessed via steps. To the rear of The Old Toll House is a further garden, with views across the River Teign & across to Shaldon & Teignmouth and out to Sea, arranged with a patio area and lawn.
Positioned at the end of the bridge the Old Toll House like many Devon properties has no parking of its own but you can easily unload outside the property and you then have a choice of parking up by Mill Lane or Third Avenue (2-3 mins walk), just over the bridge on Riverside (5-6mins) or in one of the nearby car parks.
With so much to do in a short walking distance especially the beach, pubs and restaurants in Shaldon just across the bridge this is the perfect base.
We bought this house in January 2024. I used to holiday in Shaldon/ Teignmouth when I was a kid and I took my wife Jerry on a short holiday when we were first together over 30 years ago.
Whilst on the trip Jerry always looked at the Old Toll House and wondered what it would be like to like there.
30 years later when it came up for sale we took a leap, remortgaged our family home and bought it.
One day we'll be in a position to move down permanently but until that day comes wee get to enjoy the house on short breaks and allow others to enjoy everything we fell in love with in the property.
We really hope you enjoy your stay.
