The picture-postcard village of Burton Leonard is tucked away in the unspoilt scenery of the Yorkshire countryside. Mentioned in the Domesday Book as belonging to King William and boasting 30 ploughlands, the village now makes for a wonderful escape to the Yorkshire countryside. Enjoying access to the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, whilst resting just north of the bustling town of Harrogate, Burton Leonard is a peaceful base. The village hosts a post office, where visitors can pick up any essentials during their stay, whilst also savouring a delicious range of cakes, sandwiches and coffee. The Royal Oak pub is certainly worth a visit, where visitors can enjoy excellent service, hearty food and an array of local ales. Burton Leonard also plays host to a stunning village green, football club, cricket club and a strong sense of community within the village, that is bound to make any visitor feel welcome. Those wishing to be immersed in the area's history can venture to the nearby village of Ripley for an afternoon outing at Ripley Castle, or travel northward to Newby Hall where they can tour the grand manor house and its gardens.
