Located in a quiet corner of Orton, on the Cumbrian edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Linden Barn was renovated in 2020 and is now a cosy house offering accommodation for up to six guests. Orton was described by Wainwright as one of Westmorland’s loveliest villages and with the stunning views from every window at this property it is easy to see why.

Local walks through limestone scenery with a vast network of well signposted bridleways and footpaths for walking and mountain biking including Orton Scar, Great Asby Scar and Sunbiggin Tarn.
Chocolate lovers should definitely sample the handmade luxury chocolates at Kennedy's Chocolate Factory in Orton. There are 100 varieties to choose from. Orton Scar Cafe in the village is an essential stop for walkers and non-walkers alike, serving a choice between lovely homemade cakes, scones, soup and sandwiches. The village also has a welcoming pub and a small general shop and Post Office.
The Howgill Fells, is 7 miles away and perfect for walking or mountain biking.
Shap Abbey with its impressive 15th century tower is approximately 8 miles away.
Smardale Nature Reserve is 10 miles with its circular walk and dramatic viaduct.
Lowther Castle and Gardens (approximately 14 miles away) is a great day out for all of the family. The castle has many stories told in its exhibition and there is a large adventure playground for the children to explore.
The National Trust's Acorn Bank Garden and Watermill (is approximately 15 miles away) is renowned for its herbs and fruit orchards. Dogs on leads are welcome in the 180-acre woodland.
22 miles away, but worth going the distance for, is Hutton-in-the-Forrest. Enjoy a journey through time as you wander around the house and then explore the 17th century gardens.
