Mary Lyth is family-owned, ground floor apartment on Whitby West Cliff, named after our ancestor who was born in Whitby in 1828. It is south facing and 100m from the seafront. Access is from North Promenade down the side road and through an archway to private parking for two medium sized cars, directly outside within the rear courtyard of the historic Metropole Hotel. Guests have appreciated our spacious warm welcoming rooms, plus Whitby-themed decor, jigsaws, books, games and beach toys. Boasting free on site parking for two medium sized cars or one large one car in a great location. No car pass needed as parking is private in front of the property within hotel courtyard. Mary Lyth has everything you could want for a retreat by the sea. A short walk towards nice views and a 5/10min walk to the famous Whale bones and Captain Cook statue. Also a steep bank walk down to the beach. No Stag or hen parties - this is a family holiday home with walking and attraction guides, Whitby themed toys, books and games for all ages. Guests are not expected to pay any other costs.

Welcome to our family-owned holiday home in Whitby, Mary Lyth, named after our great great grandmother, who was born in Whitby in 1828. This is our only venture so we can give you our full attention during your stay and resolve any issues that you may have. We hope you enjoy your stay and fall in love with Whitby as much as we have! The apartment is a non-smoking holiday home with limited outside space due to courtyard parking and no garden. Please park in the designated bays as shown by the wall signs pictured. Feel free to use the buckets and spades and other beach items, but do clean and replace when finished. If anything gets broken, we would much rather know about any damage so that we can get replacements before for the next guests’ arrival. We appreciate that there is some wear and tear. Notify us by e-mail or text, we should have a resolution within the hour, but do call in emergencies.

Our spacious 2 bed maisonette has the feel of a homely beach house and is within the Metropole Hotel. Our guests describe the house as warm and comfortable, as we are tucked away from the winds that can whip up along the coast. It is close to Whitby’s Spa Pavilion and Met Ballroom, both of which host a variety of events. Nearby are a range of attractions on West Cliff, such as Go-Karts, 9-hole Footgolf, Pitch and Putt Golf, the Lido (paddling pool) and Bumper Boats. There are also several restaurants within close proximity and Pannett Park, which hosts the Whitby Museum and Art Gallery as well as a children’s playground, Jurassic Garden and Lily Pool, is a short walk. It is a 15-minute walk to Whitby’s old town centre and harbour and heading the other way, a 35-minute from Sandsend beach, which is part of the Cleveland Way.
